Some believe it’s possible to earn a living doing what you enjoy doing while others don’t believe it’s possible.  I’m stuck in the middle. I believe it’s possible to make a living doing what you’re passionate about, however, I believe it may be a challenge.  This is my personal challenge.

I currently write software for a living and manage a small team of super-talented engineers.  I also work with other uber talented engineers and see that some of them have a passion and interest in what they are doing.  Something that I frequently don’t have.  I definitely enjoy aspects of what I’m doing.  I don’t hate what I do but do find myself bored at times and my skillset and abilities sometime underutilized.  This is my challenge!

Other things I’ve contemplated include changing careers.  Some options I’ve considered include becoming a financial advisor, musician and marketing.  I would be very interested in meeting with people who work in these areas and are very successful in these areas.  I would like to buy you lunch in exchange for picking your brain for an hour to hour and a half.  I don’t want a job.  I’m seeking information to help me make a career changing and possibly life changing trajectory.

How about you?  Are you passionate about something other than what you do for your full time job?  Would you like to try something different?  Are you like me and sometimes afraid of the unknown which then holds you back?  This is my journey and I hope to provide insight as I work through this.  I hope that you too will take a chance and begin to sort out where you want to go, and what you want to do.  Don’t quit your job tomorrow unless you have a plan to move forward.  Do begin to think, plan and take action so that you can do what you’re passionate about.
