Here is what’s on my mind tonight:
- Slightly sore, spent the afternoon polishing off the yard work.
- Darn it. Forgot to spray the carpenter bees (again).
- Read about a guy who is a multi-millionaire… oh, and his highest hourly wage was $11 bucks an hour. He didn’t have kids or a wife… but still. We’re talking several million dollars in net worth. The story is a couple of months old but still worth a read. Inspirational and humbling at the same time. Doesn’t really leave an excuse for most of us!
- Budgeting depression has set in (again). The summer always seems to have more stuff squeezed into it than I anticipated which means we can’t save as much as I want.
- Priced out some car parts… I think I’ll pick them up and do the work with my dad when we head up North for a summer vacation later this year… Probably save about 1500 dollars… Now you can take that to the bank! (For the record, I can work on cars, I just don’t like doing it if I don’t have to!)
- I told my wife that she only get two tanks of gas for the xTerra during June. Ok, so we’re going to budget more than that… shouldn’t be too big of a deal because it’s mostly meant to provide transportation for my wife and the kids while I’m at work. I thought it was funny! (not certain she did).
- Looking forward to tomorrow. One of my first ever, take a few hours and just work on a pet project. I’m going to geek out for a couple of hours and begin playing with some new software development tools that will help me with some work on other projects I want to tackle.
- I’m also going to do some prep work for a business idea I have. Not certain what will come of it but should be fun anyway.
- Also going to begin prep for a budgeting workshop.
I always feel like I should have some linkage back to something money related… I did talk a bit about money on a couple of the points. Here’s the last thing, gas and money. I’ve heard several people tell me how no one is traveling this weekend due to gas prices. I smile and nod. I really want to smack something. If you know that you want to travel on Memorial Day weekend then budget the money to make it happen. The reason people can’t go is because they failed to plan… aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggggh.
You can enjoy life if you plan for it. We just bought an SUV during high gas prices. It’s not going to kill us, we just bumped the money that we budget for gas. NBD.
