I spent the first 30 years of my life living like most people.  Knowing I should budget, knowing I should save for retirement and knowing I should get out of debt.  I couldn’t figure out why we couldn’t get ahead.  I had begun to blame my job for not paying me enough and found it easy to blame others for things that went wrong in my life.

I woke up from my stupidity in the fall of 2004.  Our first child on the way with about $70,000 in debt plus an almost $200,000 mortgage that was more home than we could afford.  We were on a fast track to financial hell and no plan to stop it.  Then it happened.  A close friend recommended a book to me (a year earlier) that I finally read.  That book rocked my financial world and our finances have never been the same.  I woke up and I will never be the same again.

I write about money matters and general success because being financially intelligent and understanding what makes success are two critical factors that many people don’t get or grasp.  I want to help you understand them, I want you to wake up and face the financial hangover you’ve been trying to avoid.  You can get out of debt!  With effort you can succeed,  you can become a millionaire and change your family tree and the world through your wise generosity.

Here’s the deal.  You have to decide that you are responsible for you.  No one else can do what you need to do.  Don’t wait for the government or anyone else to solve your problems.  Acknowledge that you’ve been the problem, realize that you can change, make plans to change and then, take action to change!  You can do it!
